Research Interest
Dr. Bump's research focuses on medical education of patient safety and quality improvement.
Clinical Interest
Dr. Bump is a practicing general internal medicine physician and the Medical Director of the UPMC General Internal Medicine–South clinic in the West Mifflin/South Hills area of Pittsburgh. Dr. Bump provides care for patients ranging from late adolescence to senior citizens. Dr. Bump cares for common medical conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, lung disease and liver disease. Dr. Bump is also experienced with musculoskeletal conditions as well as seeing patients whose illnesses have not yet been diagnosed.
Educational Interest
Dr. Bump takes pride in educating the next generation of doctors. Dr. Bump teaches medical students as well as residents and fellows. His educational interests include teaching the fundamental skills of being a practicing doctor. This includes skills in interviewing and examining patients. He also educates on topics of population health. At the resident and fellow level he regularly educates on patient and quality improvement.
