Research Interest
Dr. Chu's primary research focus is applying innovative methods in technology and data science to improve various health outcomes. His work includes public health surveillance, mobile health interventions, and studying big data online. Dr. Chu's expertise in social network analysis compliments his research through understanding the use of social media and how relationships can be effected to improve health outcomes. His current projects are focused on cancer surveillance and tobacco control. Dr. Chu is funded by an AHRQ PCOR K12 grant to integrate patient-centered research, smartphone apps, and social network analysis to improve tobacco cessation.
