Dr. Herrle's academic interests include the teaching of physical examination and history taking skills in addition to clinical reasoning to residents and medical students. Dr. Herrle is a member of the Academy of Master Educators at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, serves as the course director for the medical school’s Advanced Physical Examination course along with the Prologue course, and is a member of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine's Curriculum Committee. He has served on the writing committees for the general medicine component of the 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th editions of the Medical Knowledge Self-Assessment Program (MKSAP) which is published by the American College of Physicians and also currently is a member of the In-Training Exam Committee of the American College of Physicians.
