Dr. Heffernan is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine and staff hospitalist in the Division of General Internal Medicine, Section of Hospital Medicine. She attended the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD before completing her Internal Medicine Residency at UPMC. Her academic Interest include hospital medicine, medical education and quality improvement. She has conducted and presented research on congenital heart disease.
