Research Interest
Dr. Lutz is involved in research focusing on expanding uses of cardiac rehabilitation to better improve functional status and outcomes among older patients with cardiovascular disease.

Clinical Interest
Dr. Lutz recently joined the Division of General Internal Medicine, Section of Hospital Medicine as a Clinical Instructor of Medicine. He earned a BA in Economics from Tufts University and a MD from the University of Maryland School of Medicine before completing an internal medicine residency at UPMC. His research has focused on investigating barriers to cardiac rehabilitation and on expanding the uses of cardiac rehabilitation to better improve functional status and outcomes among older patients with cardiovascular disease. He also volunteers as a physician with the Birmingham Free Clinic, which aims to provide medical care to underserved populations in Pittsburgh.
Educational Interest
Dr. Lutz enjoys teaching clinical reasoning to medical students and residents.
