Research Interest
Dr. Merriam’s research interests include leadership development, women's health, and faculty development.
Clinical Interest
Dr. Merriam received her MD degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 2017 and completed a Fellowship in Women’s Health through the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare system and the General Internal Medicine Academic Clinician Educator Scholars Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh. She also holds a master’s degree in Medical Education from the ICRE.

Dr. Merriam currently practices Primary Care/Women’s Health and Hospital Medicine at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System.
Educational Interest
Dr. Merriam's scholarly interests include both women's health and leadership development, areas in which she conducts medical education research and teaches at the UME, GME, and CME levels.

Dr. Merriam is Assistant Director of the Institute for Clinical Research Education’s Degree Granting Programs in Medical Education.

She also directs the Foundational Leadership Series for the UPMC Internal Medicine Residency Program, serves at the ICRE as Course Director for “Strategic Leadership in Academic Medicine,” and Course Co-Director for the “Leadership Career Development Sessions” for KL2 and TL1 Scholars.
