Dr. Shams has extensive research experience in gastroenterology, biomechanics, pneumonia, liver failure, and hospital discharges, and has earned several awards for her presentations.

Clinical Interest
Dr. Shams is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine and staff hospitalist in the Division of General Internal Medicine, Section of Hospital Medicine. She attended medical school at Oakland University’s William Beaumont School of Medicine before completing an internal medicine residency at Beaumont Health in Michigan, where she earned multiple Resident of the Month awards. She joined the University of Pittsburgh faculty in 2020 and works primarily at UPMC Shadyside.
