Research Interest
Dr. Yabes is a statistician in the Center for Research on Health Care (CRHC) Data Center and collaborates with various investigators in the Schools of Health Sciences on diverse clinical research projects. His research has focused on the analysis of large administrative databases and the design, conduct, and analysis of clinical trials. He is involved in health services research of urologic diseases using the SEER-Medicare data and serves as a biostatistician in trials on insomnia, palliative care, and critical care. He has worked on several research studies on renal disease, hematology, and pediatrics. His methodological interest includes survival and competing risks-regression methods, analysis of longitudinal data, missing data techniques, and joint modeling.
Educational Interest
Dr. Yabes is a core faculty in the Institute for Clinical Research Education (ICRE) where he has been involved in teaching many biostatistics courses. He directs Correlated Data Analysis (CLRES 2026) and Survival Analysis (CLRES 2023) and serves as an instructor in Introductory Biostatistics (CLRES 2020). He also directs Data Management and Analysis using SAS (BIOST 2093) in the Department of Biostatistics.
