Research Interest
Dr. Garner's research interests include:

-Infections in patients with hematologic malignancies, particularly those receiving cellular therapies
-The microbiome of patients receiving cellular therapies
-Phage therapy for multi-drug resistant bacterial infections in immunocompromised patients
Clinical Interest
Dr. Garrner is an attending physician on the inpatient and outpatient transplant infectious diseases services at UPMC. He sees organ transplant recipients/candidates and patients with hematological malignancies (hematopoietic cell transplant, CAR-T-cell therapy, leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma.)
Educational Interest
Dr. Garner is a core faculty member in the general infectious diseases fellowship and has specific interest in promoting education in the diagnosis and management of infections in patients with hematologic malignancies, particularly those receiving stem cell transplantation or cellular therapies.
