Research Interest
Research- Congestive heart failure/transplant- specifically congenital heart disease patients. We are currently investigating outcomes (morbidity and mortality) of congenital heart disease patients evaluated for heart transplants as well as variables that predict candidacy for transplant and transplant outcomes.

Chest pain. Multiple abstracts and pending review article on acute chest pain in patients presenting to the emergency department, specifically without prior diagnosis of coronary artery disease.

CHF readmission. Evaluating causes of heart failure readmission and patients at greatest risk. This includes patients with sleep disordered breathing.
Clinical Interest
Clinical- Currently seeing patients with both systolic and diastolic heart failure, that are pre- and post-heart transplant as well as patients with pulmonary hypertension of various etiologies.

As a heart failure specialist I also manage patients on mechanical circulatory support devices such as left ventricular assist devices, perform right heart catheterizations with endomyocardial biopsies, and round in the UPMC Presbyterian CCU.
Educational Interest
Educational- Involved in medical student curriculum development for congestive heart failure component of the MS-2 cardiology course and the MS-4 pathophysiology and pharmacology of heart failure course.

Ongoing education in the cardiology fellowship, including lectures on hemodynamics and evaluation and management of decompensated heart failure.
