Research Interest
Dr. Lenhard's primary research interests are in oncology. In addition to conducting and publishing research on therapeutic treatments for solid tumors, she also helped develop side effect protocols for Hematology/Oncology clinical trials at the University of Toledo Medical Center. Most recently, she collaborated with the UTMC Dana Cancer Center at the University of Toledo Medical Center on the Lung Cancer Navigator Project.
Clinical Interest
Dr. Lenhard is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine, Chief of Medicine at UPMC Shadyside, and Senior Medical Director for Care Coordination and Discharge Planning. She earned her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine before completing her Internal Medicine residency at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, OH. Following residency, she worked as a hospitalist for Community Hospitalists LLC in Ohio, developing their quality/ onboarding program and serving as their Director of Quality from 2010-2012. She then served as Medical Director of the Rapid Observation Unit and Director of UR at Cleveland Clinic's Avon Hospital. She was elected as Chief of Staff at University of Toledo, as well as serving as Chief of Hospital Medicine and Vice Chair of Quality for the Department of Medicine.

She joined the faculty at UPMC Shadyside in 2020, bringing extensive experience in hospital leadership, quality improvement, and hospital medicine. Dr. Lenhard has been instrumental in developing and implementing the new model of care coordination and discharge planning across the UPMC System as Senior Medical Director of Care coordination and Discharge planning for UPMC Health System.
Educational Interest
Since joining UPMC, Dr. Lenhard has mentored medical students, conducted weekly Medicine Grand Rounds, and presented at local and national conferences on the new care coordination model and leadership. She hosted numerous workshops and site visits regarding the discharge SWAT model she created and implemented.
