Clinical Interest
Dr. Scandrett has taken care of older adults across the spectrum of care, from outpatient to hospital to nursing home to home. She enjoys working with clinically complex and frail older adults and their families, approaching medical management from a biopsychosocial perspective and with the support of the interprofessional team. She welcomes conversations with patients and families about quality of life, values, and goals of care.  Her outpatient practice is at Shadyside Senior Care Institute, where she has a primary care practice and sees patients for geriatric consultation. In addition, Dr. Scandrett teaches on the inpatient geriatric medicine service at Shadyside Hospital and the geriatric consultation service at Presbyterian Hospital.
Educational Interest
Dr. Scandrett directs the Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program and the Geriatrics Track for the Internal Medicine residency program, and she is the Section Education Coordinator for the Division of Geriatrics. Dr. Scandrett is interested in curriculum development to develop a geriatric-informed healthcare workforce.  She has developed several integrated pathways for geriatrics fellowship training. She has produced curricula for residents to learn and to teach principles of geriatric medicine using the 5M framework, for fellows to learn system-based practice through long-term care leadership activities, and for fellows to develop skills in practice-based learning and improvement through a clinical reflection exercise.
