Dr. Mehta’s research interests include clinical and translational aspects of subclinical organ rejection. He is interested in following long term outcomes in patients with subclinical rejection. He is also interested in exploring alternative pathways that may be playing a contributory role in subclinical rejection including role of Th17 cells and the IL17 pathway.

Rajil B Mehta, MD, FASN is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Surgery at the Thomas E Starzl Transplantation Institute, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He completed his medical education from the University of Bombay, India. He subsequently pursued a residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in General Nephrology at SUNY Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, New York. After a few years in general nephrology practice, he pursued his long time interest in renal transplantation and completed a formal 1 year fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and joined the faculty at the same institute following completion of his training.
